Hysterical, insightful and filled with new ideas. Helps put this epoch of humanity into perspective, with original suggestions about how to loose weight and have better sex! Broad in scope, but well written.
Mystic Pete Chronicles blew me away! I've read a number of self-help and New Age books, but this is so much more than anything I've read. The writing is solid and down-to-earth, yet will lift you up to the heavens. On the one hand, it's a how-to guide with practical exercises to aid your growth. Yet, the book is also filled with explanations of concepts and that which goes on behind the scenes that's far meatier than the usual pablum I've heard before. It's a fun book that embraces the concept that the things of this earth, such as money and sex, can be enjoyed as they align with the spiritual. Again, the author doesn't just throw around concepts but has plenty of practical, down-to-earth exercises to bring heaven into your own personal plane. You won't be disappointed with this wonderful read!
Prior to reading this book I had never heard of "Mystic Pete," but now that I've completed it I am really looking forward to the other books slated to be released by this author. Typically I am drawn to the works of spiritual growth writers who are down-to-earth, authentic individuals who actually have a sense of humor (e.g., Fr. Anthony DeMello, Stuart Wilde). There's no doubt that Mystic Pete clearly fits in that classification, as he quite obviously comes across as an earthy-crunchy kind of guy that not only shares a lot of valuable insights, but also a person who has the ability to be very entertaining.
There's a lot of valuable and practical information in this book, and while I don't necessarily agree 100 percent with all of the author's positions, I can confidently say that this book is an excellent resource for anyone walking the path of spiritual growth. With that said, I do feel it's important to note that for those readers who may have more conservative viewpoints about sexuality, there may be some parts of this book that you might not resonate with.
Here's one of many insightful passages from this book
"God knows this reality is arduous and wants us to succeed. He/She normally doesn't directly meddle in our lives because that would interfere with our Free Will and go against the system He/She designed. God acts within the parameters of the reality that He/She Himself/Herself [oh, boy] set up. However, a past-life good deed could be coming due or a karmic credit card may not be maxed out, so occasionally we get treated to a driblet of "divine intervention." Yet, it's foolish to expect it. The miraculous is the exception. Don't expect a miracle. To plead for special treatment diminished the sacredness of the ordinary. Work it out through the system. It is constructed this way for a reason. Don't look for the skies to part to see God. See God in your morning donut, baptized in coffee."
